Heading off to Yakima Valley

I am off next week for a well-deserved week of rest, relaxation and vacation. Well, to be honest, it wont't all be fun and games. Being self-employed and a solopreneur means I am always working in some fashion, so next week won't be different.

I'm luck that my work blends into the lifestyle that I have chosen. I enjoy the various facets of my job and I try to combine what I do to make a living with what I do when I am on vacation. Whether it's wine, taking a sightseeing tour to see how other tour operators run their business, or taking in a classical music concert are all part of the mix when I travel.

Next week I am going to be in Seattle visiting family and close friends but I intend to make a short side trip to Yakima Valley to explore the growing wine scene there and in Walla Walla. Both AVAs are producing top flight red blends and aromatic whites and we are already working with a winery in Yakima to produce our FORTY WINKS unoaked chardonnay.

For those of you who want to learn more about these two grape and wine producing areas, you can read

last week. It gives a wonderful overview of what is currently going on east of the Cascade Mountains in WA state will be a guide for my adventures when I go out there next week.

I'll let you know how everything goes and if you are interested in joining me on my travels, visit my blog (Midwest Veraison) on my web site, www.windycitytourcompany.net.
