Busman's Holiday East of the Cascades

It has been an interesting three days here in Eastern Washington. Not quite what I had anticipated but still eye opening and a wonderful journey into WA State wine country. We've had perfect weather and I can see firsthand why this region grows fantastic fruit and makes fantastic wines. Leaving Seattle heading East on I-90 (yes the same one that we use on our trips to SW MI Wine Country!), the terrain turns quite dry after the wet and abundant forests of Western WA and Snoqualmie Pass. The dry landscape is punctuated with pockets of irrigated green patches that are home to wonderful fruit orchards and grape vines. Which leads me to ponder what effects climate change will have in this area

Heading off to Yakima Valley

I am off next week for a well-deserved week of rest, relaxation and vacation. Well, to be honest, it wont't all be fun and games. Being self-employed and a solopreneur means I am always working in some fashion, so next week won't be different. I'm luck that my work blends into the lifestyle that I have chosen. I enjoy the various facets of my job and I try to combine what I do to make a living with what I do when I am on vacation. Whether it's wine, taking a sightseeing tour to see how other tour operators run their business, or taking in a classical music concert are all part of the mix when I travel.
